On Monday, October 11, 2016 a complex of residential buildings in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province of China collapsed killing 22 people! Recent surveys show the buildings had several structural deficiencies and hadn't been inspected by engineers lately. Further investigations are underway.
Four buildings became a pile of debris in the morning of 16th October in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province of China. The buildings were built in 1970 and had structural problems and oversights. Due to these deficiencies, the rent was cheap and people who lived there were mainly migrants and poor. Now, 22 people are dead and almost 800 rescuers are trying to find trapped people that may still be alive below the debris. As of now, six people have been survived, among of them, a little child.
Although we will hear in the future more about this event, it appears that this level of deficiency that resulted in this failure does not and should not represent our times.
