A multi-storey residential building collapsed on Thursday in the Moroccan city of Fes, leaving 11 people dead and six others injured, according to Moroccan media reports.
Early reports from state news agency MAP said four people had been killed and six others injured, while later reports from Moroccan media and state-owned broadcaster 2M put the death toll at 11. It remained unclear how many residents were inside the building at the time of the collapse.
The cause of the disaster has not yet been determined. Authorities have opened an investigation, and searches were reported to be continuing for anyone who might still be trapped under the rubble.
Building collapses have occurred repeatedly in Fes in recent months. In December, two separate building collapses in the city killed at least 22 people, while another residential building collapse in May last year killed nine residents.
