UK's Royal Mail has just issued a set of first class stamps depicting the 10 most historical bridges across the country. According to Royal Mail, the series "demonstrates leaps in engineering" performed by progressive architects and engineers.
Bridges featured in this special collection range from simple stone crossings dating from the pre-1600s to contemporary engineering marvels. The collection of ten bridges includes Tarr steps, crossing River Barle in Exmoor National Park to the recently completed Peace Bridge in River Foyle in Northern Ireland.
"The story of Britain's engineering genius can be found in its bridges. "These new stamps celebrate 10 beautiful and ground-breaking landmarks that span centuries of our history.", stated Andrew Hammond, head of Royal Mail's stamps and collectibles department.
