A decades-old suspension bridge spanning the Đa Nhim River in Lâm Đồng Province, Vietnam, was carried away by torrential floodwaters in a matter of seconds, local authorities confirmed.
The bridge, identified as the Phú Thiện Suspension Bridge in Ninh Gia Commune, was reported swept away at around noon on 20 November 2025 by a surge of water released from upstream dams.
Officials said there were no people on the structure at the time of collapse, and no injuries or fatalities have been reported in the incident.
The bridge served as a crucial link for local communities, and its destruction isolated residents in the area until alternate routes or transport arrangements can be made.
In response, local agencies have cordoned off the site pending a full damage assessment and safety evaluation.
Heavy flooding in the region is ongoing, with rising water levels on the Đa Nhim River caused by upstream dam discharges and intense rainfall. The provincial government has issued an emergency declaration, mobilized evacuation efforts, and directed rerouting of traffic away from unstable terrain and key transport links.
With the loss of the bridge, residents now face disruption in daily travel, access to services, and transport of goods until recovery and rebuilding efforts begin.
