An under construction Bailey bridge over the Bheri river collapsed: two fatalities and seven injuries

An under construction Bailey bridge that was being constructed across the Thuli Bheri river in Tallubagar of Jajarkot district collapsed on Thursday, causing four fatalities and seven injuries; three of the injured are in critical condition. The critically injured people were taken to Nepalgunj for medical treatment, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police in Rukum (West) Nawaraj Bhattarai.

The incident occurred when a crane was crossing the bridge along the Jajarkot-Dolpa road section. More specifically, the bridge connected Tallubagar of Nalgad Municipality in Jajarkot and Aathbiskot of Rukum (West) district. The police suspect that the crane's weight caused the bridge to collapse, and a detailed investigation into the incident is underway. 

The bridge is 120 meters long and is being constructed by Himshikhar-Khadka-Krishna JV at a cost of Rs 38.4 million. The collapse occurred when the construction work was in its final stages. Aashutosh Karna, the chief of the Division Road Office in Chaurjahari, said that a thorough investigation into the bridge's collapse would be conducted.
