The TV Arabiya Al network reported that the crane collapsed because of strong storms that hit the region.
Minimum information is transmitted on the circumstances of the accident, but in the photos that were posted on social networking sites, there are corpses that lie in pools of blood in an area of the mosque.

The incident occurred while Saudi Arabia is going to welcome hundreds of thousands of pilgrims on the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage which is expected to begin on 21 or 22 September in Mecca, while about 800,000 prayers have already arrived in Saudi Arabia to take part in the pilgrimage.
