Makkah, Saudi Arabia will soon be the home to the worlds largest hotel. Upon completion the Abraj Kudai will offer 10,000 rooms in 12 separate towers. The project will total almost 686,000 square feet and house 70 restaurants, a shopping mall, prayer halls, a convention center and multiple helipads. It will also be capped with a central dome that is expected to be one of the largest in the world. The price tag for this project is roughly 3.5 billion dollars.
The Saudi Binladin Group holds the main construction contract. SBG recently awarded Mystas Infra Saudi Arabia (MISA), a subsidiary of IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Limited, a contract worth $77 million to supply, deliver, install, supervise and hand over structural and reinforced concrete works for two of the projects 230 meter-tall towers (2A and 3A).
The site for the Abraj Kudai is about a mile from the Masjid as-Haram, the largest mosque in the world.
The vast interior is being designed by London-based design practice Areen Hospitality.
Ten of the towers are to provide four-star accommodation while the remaining two will offer five-star amenities.
Abraj Kudai is expected to be completed in 2017.
