A new milestone has been reached in Canada’s skyline. After years of delays and setbacks, the 85-storey tower at One Bloor West has topped out at 309 meters, officially becoming the tallest building in the country. The project's initial goal was to surpass First Canadian Place, which held the title of Canada’s tallest building for nearly half a century.
However, One Bloor West won’t hold the record for long. A taller development further south on Yonge Street is already underway and is set to surpass it. The upcoming project is expected to exceed 345 meters in height, with its top floors reaching nearly the same level as the CN Tower’s observation deck.

It's worth noting that the term supertall is used for buildings taller than 300 meters. Jim Ritchie, President and CEO of Tridel, announced that the tower has reached its final height, marking a major milestone for the project and closing a long-standing skyscraper race in Toronto.
Despite being the first in Canada to reach supertall status, One Bloor West may ultimately be remembered as a runner-up in the broader race due to significant legal and construction challenges. These issues were resolved after Tridel took over the project from Mizrahi Developments.
