Construction of a cutting-edge skywalk bridge began on November 18 in Andhra Pradesh, a southeastern state in India. Crafted from glass, the bridge aims to boost tourism in the area. Once completed, visitors will be able to enjoy stunning views of the sea and nearby hills, as it will be situated close to the renowned Titanic Viewpoint at Kailasagiri. The cost of the project is estimated at approximately $720,000 and its completion is anticipated by April 2025.
The bridge will span around 50 meters, surpassing the existing 40-meter Vagamon Glass Bridge in Kerala by 10 meters, making it India's longest cantilever glass skywalk. In addition to the glass skywalk, which will accommodate up to 40 people, the project will also include two 150-meter-long zip lines and sky-cycling tracks, enhancing the tourist experience. These features will offer visitors exhilarating opportunities to soar over scenic hills or cycle high in the air, all while ensuring safety and excitement.
The project will be developed through a public-private partnership (PPP), in collaboration with the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) and RJ Adventures, with support from SSM Shipping & Logistics and Bharat Mata Ventures. The initiative was inspired by officials' desire to attract more visitors to the area, showcasing Visakhapatnam's natural beauty. Despite the additional costs associated with these adventure features, they will complement the glass bridge and create a dynamic blend of nature and adventure tourism. The project is expected to elevate Visakhapatnam's tourism industry and transform Kailasagiri into a must-visit destination by combining a stunning glass skywalk with adventurous activities and picturesque surroundings.
