At least six people were killed in a building collapse Saturday in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, according to a police source.
The accident happened when a warehouse collapsed in the Mercatto open market Saturday afternoon, eventually killing six people while an unknown number of others sustained injuries, state-run Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) quoted Yibekal Temere, area crime investigation unit head, as saying.
According to Temere, seven people, who have sustained minor and serious physical injuries, have been rescued so far. The injured are currently receiving medical treatment.
Noting investigations are underway to determine the cause of the incident, Temere, however, called on citizens to take necessary cautions and report to concerned government institutions when using or around old and dilapidated buildings of concern.
