On Saturday, March 15, extreme weather conditions swept across the United States as tornadoes tore through multiple regions, resulting in at least 33 fatalities and numerous injuries.
Authorities reported widespread destruction, with tornadoes tearing roofs off buildings and overturning vehicles. In one particularly devastating incident, a 50-car pileup during a severe dust storm led to eight fatalities due to poor visibility.
In Missouri, the Harmony Hills trailer park suffered significant damage as tornadoes ripped through the area. Local authorities reported fallen trees, downed power lines, and destroyed buildings, leading to 12 casualties. Eyewitnesses described the terrifying experience, stating that the noise was so loud they thought they were going to explode.
According to poweroutage.us, at least 200,000 households and businesses across the central U.S. were left without electricity due to storm-related damage.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned that additional major tornadoes remain possible and could be even more intense and long-lasting. States such as Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, which lie in Tornado Alley, remain particularly vulnerable due to favorable atmospheric conditions. Tornadoes in this region are most likely to occur between May and June.
