A road, completely destroyed by the powerful M 7.0 earthquake in Alaska, was fully repaired in under 4 days.

The roadway is located in Anchorage, the biggest city of Alaska, and links the International Airport with the Minnesota Drive. When the temblor struck, the road completely collapsed creating a large hole where a vehicle fell. 4 days later, construction works completed the repairs and the road is fully operational.

Remarkably, when the news spread, local residents were surprised and kept wondering why the state cannot fix the potholes on their streets when they can accomplish such a rapid repair on a fully collapsed road. Alaska's Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, stated that potholes cannot be fixed at this period of the year due to low temperatures.

In the meanwhile, the federal government has released a fund of $5 million for repairs caused by the quake. About 50 damaged infrastructure projects have been detected. At the same time, 243 bridges are being thoroughly inspected but, fortunately, no damage has been identified yet.
