A new bridge has been completed and is now open to the public in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. The structure was built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). It is expected to facilitate the transport of goods and farm products for approximately 15,000 residents across the barangays of Lumangbayan, Sta. Isabel, Ranzo, Pili, Banilad, and Guinhawa. Additionally, it will improve access to essential services such as education and healthcare.
The bridge also enhances connectivity to Pinamalayan’s beach resorts and other tourist destinations, which is expected to boost the local economy. This is the third bridge constructed in Barangay Lumangbayan, with the previous two completed in 2022. According to engineer Padullo, the project aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to build infrastructure that connects remote communities.
Located in Barangay Lumangbayan, the bridge spans an area of 238.50 square meters. It features two lanes and a single 25-meter span, along with a 590-meter retaining wall equipped with concrete guardrails. Moreover, the bridge is outfitted with solar-powered LED roadway lights.
