According to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Iraqi Parliament's Services and Construction Committee announced on Monday that it would build 19 bridges in Baghdad, the country's capital. Furthermore, the committee confirmed that two new committees will be formed in order to keep an eye on the projects at the capital's entry and the rising costs of apartments in residential areas. It should be noted that these costs per square meter range between one and 1,500 USD and can even reach 2,000 USD in some locations.
The Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, emphasized the necessity to complete the entrances to Baghdad rapidly, according to Baqir Al-Saadi, a member of the Services and Construction Committee. Al-Saadi stated that challenges to finishing these projects will be overcome as soon as possible.
On Sunday, the Iraqi administration urged the Parliament to swiftly pass the nation's general budget. Following the approval of the new budget, a number of projects would be carried out, including the construction of about 19 bridges in the capital's center. Notable examples are the Abu Nawas, Karrada, and Jadriya Streets, according to the Iraqi MP. An estimated $152 billion in spending, including almost $36.5 billion in investments, is anticipated for Iraq in 2023.
