On Saturday, September 7, around 5 p.m. a three-storey building collapsed in Lucknow's Transport Nagar, resulting in the death of 8 people while at least 28 were injured. The injured were transferred to the Lok Bandhu Hospital to receive medical health. As of present, authorities stated that are afraid that more people might be trapped beneath the debris as they believe that at least 40 people were inside the structure.
Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) promptly arrived at the site of the collapse and started the rescue operations while simultaneously trying to clear the area from rumbles.
The reason of the collapse may not be known yet, but officials suggest that the 15-year-old building that was undergoing construction work at the basement collapsed due to heavy rainfall. Eyewitnesses stated that the heavy rain forced them to seek refuge on the ground floor of the building where they noticed a significant crack to one of the pillars, moments before the collapse.
In all, Yogi Adityanath the Chief Minister shared his condolence to the victims’ families and ordered the hospital to provide medical care to the injured, while ruling the authorities to speed up the relief efforts.
