A few minutes prior to this event, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake took place in the northern Chilean vicinity, positioned at a shallower depth of 89 km. This Chilean seismic event was centered 56km to the east of the town of La Tirana. Authorities in Chile have not reported damage linked to these earthquakes.
