In order the hydrogen to be distributed, appropriate systems are used. These systems usually comprise a set of hydrogen main headers (pipelines) working at different pressures and hydrogen purities. Many makeup and recycle compressors drive the hydrogen through this complex network of consumer units, on-purpose production units.
Today, hydrogen should be transported from the point of production to the point of use via pipeline and over the road in cryogenic liquid tanker trucks or gaseous tube trailers. Pipelines are deployed in regions with substantial demand that is expected to remain stable for decades. Therefore, piping and structural engineers need accurate pipe stress analysis of their hydrogen distribution systems.

The Finite Element Method (FEM) is the most common tool used by engineers for the analysis and the design of different kind of structures while the stress and deformation calculations of the structural members are of interest. Bentley offers proven, industry-leading technology that delivers reliable and accurate stress calculations, plus comprehensive structural finite element analysis and design. The main benefits of using AutoPIPE and STAAD.Pro are focused on the optimization, the interoperability, the productivity and the easier handling of the design changes.
