A new project to renovate the Grajska kašča castle which is in Ptuj Castle complex in Ptuj, Slovenia is planned to start in 2024 with its completion expected by March of 2026. The total cost of the project is anticipated to be approximately EUR 5.6 million while EUR 4.6 million will be funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
The main goal of the project of the 18th-century castle granary is to restore the structure and transform it into a cultural exhibition and heritage repository to attract tourists and facilitate access to the castle hill.
In addition, they will add areas to exhibit not known artifacts, a lapidarium area where they will exhibit stone objects and inscriptions. They will create temporary exhibition spaces with service facilities and last a stone restoration workshop. It should be noted that the project is the most significant investment that will be completed in the next decades in Ptuj.
In all, the project represents the effort to restore, preserve, and enrich the museum as a cultural meeting point while it will be a tourist attraction for the city's upgrading. In fact, it will be a more dynamic and accessible destination.
