A building collapsed due to an explosion on Madison's west side on Tuesday injuring four people while no one appears to be trapped inside. Concerning the four injured individuals, one was taken to the hospital, while the other three transported themselves.
The incident took place around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Gammon Road and Park Ridge Drive. The building is no longer livable, and at least six units have been affected. One of the units is believed to be the source of the explosion while there was never a fire as a result of the blast. Furthermore, Madison Fire Chief Chris Carbon has stated that it is too early to determine the cause.
Debris is scattered around, and doors and windows have been blown out while Gammon Road is likely to be closed for a few hours. Witnesses in the area reported hearing an explosion, and a portion of the multi-story condominium building collapsed while another witness saw several injured individuals.
