The annual awards program honors the extraordinary work of Bentley software users advancing infrastructure design, construction, and operations throughout the world. Eleven independent jury panels selected the 36 finalists from over 300 nominations submitted by more than 180 organizations from 47 countries encompassing 12 categories.
The winners will be revealed on November 15 during the 2022 Going Digital Awards in Infrastructure celebrations in London at the Intercontinental Park Lane in front of invited press members and industry executives. Finalists presentations will be available for viewing using this link on November 7, 2022. DELHI METRO RAIL CORPORATION LIMITED: Design And Construction Of Tunnel And Underground Station At Krishna Park Of Delhi MRTS Phase-IV

The Delhi Metro Phase 4 extension will add nearly 62 kilometers to the existing 390-kilometer Delhi Metro, which has revolutionized mass transportation in India, providing reliable, eco-friendly services while also minimizing roadway accidents and vehicular carbon emissions. The Krishna Park project is part of this extension and includes structural design and construction of twin bore tunnels and an underground station. Located in a densely populated urban area with alluvial soil conditions, the project presented structural and geotechnical engineering challenges, requiring an integrated BIM solution.
Leveraging PLAXIS and STAAD, the project team modeled and analyzed the soil, and building and tunnel structures, monitoring and simulating structural loads and excavation works. Bentley’s integrated BIM applications streamlined workflows, facilitating clash detection and enabling real-time model modifications prior to work on site, saving 1,000 resource hours and associated costs. Through collaborative digital modeling and analysis, the team optimized structural design, reducing concrete material quantities by approximately 1,500 cubic meters and steel reinforcements by 250 megatons.
SINOTECH ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS, LTD.: TPC Changhua Offshore Wind Farm Phase 2 Project

With a total power generation capacity of 300 megawatts, providing more than 1 billion units of electricity annually, the TPC Changhua Offshore Windfarm Phase 2 project will supply carbon-free electricity to approximately 270,000 households. Sinotech is designing the wind turbine generator support structures, requiring consideration of thousands of load scenarios. Faced with complicated geometry and voluminous data, they needed cloud-based, offshore structural design and analysis technology to complete the design in a timely manner.
Sinotech selected SACS to perform 80,000 load simulations, generating petabytes of data. Bentley’s application provided a dynamic modeling and analysis environment to complete the simulations in one and a half months, compared to three and a half using conventional methods. The software’s automated and comprehensive computing features saved 60% in design time and approximately five petabytes of local storage space.
WSP: Unity Place Delivered With Optimized Design By WSP Using Innovations From Bentley

Located in Milton Keynes, Unity Place will be the new headquarters for Santander Bank, consolidating four existing office buildings into a state-of-the-art facility. It will be designed and constructed as a green, efficient space, achieving excellence in environmental sustainability and impact on well-being. Covering 84,000 square meters on an existing car park site, the sustainable building project presented architectural, geotechnical, and structural engineering challenges. WSP provides multidiscipline engineering services from conception through completion and realized they needed integrated structural and geotechnical modeling and analysis applications to determine sustainable building solutions.
WSP selected PLAXIS and RAM, simplifying design and streamlining workflows to meet the construction budget and timeline while achieving sustainability goals. Using Bentley’s applications, they opted for a concrete solution that saved 16,000 tons of concrete and GBP 1.206 million in material costs. The integrated technology reduced design time, saving an additional GBP 20,000, and facilitated innovative structural solutions that already exceed 2030 carbon targets. The project sets a benchmark for sustainable design of commercial new builds.
