A dam is currently under construction in the Aitaber administrative area of the Molqui Sub-zone to provide a stable water supply for both residents and livestock, as well as to promote irrigation-based agriculture. According to the project coordinator, Eng. Solomon Gebremeskel, the construction—now 80% complete—is a joint effort between local residents and the Defense Forces.
Mr. Tesfamicael Gebru, Administrator of the Sub-zone, emphasized that the project aligns with national efforts to build water reservoirs and praised the strong involvement of the Defense Forces. Meanwhile, improvements in the local education system—from elementary to high school—have led to increased student enrollment. According to Mr. Mulugeta Abraham, Head of Pedagogy, more than 1,800 students from 22 villages are now attending school in the area.
