Milwaukee, Wisconsin: 86.6m
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, an international organization, has named a 25-story tower in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ascent, as the tallest concrete-timber hybrid construction and the tallest timber building in the world.
Norway: 85.4m
Scandinavian countries have always led the timber building industry. Norway is home to Mjøstårnet, the second-tallest timber building in the world at 18 floors and 85.4 meters. It is located on the edge of Lake Mjøsa.
Winterthur: 100m
When complete, the Rocket&Tigerli housing complex in Winterthur, Switzerland, which was designed by the Danish company Schmidt Hammer Lassen, would be the tallest timber building in the world at 100 meters.
Toronto: 90m
Icon Architects in Canada has announced plans for a 31-story tower in Ontario that would be the tallest mass-timber building in North America at 90 meters.
Finland: 60m
Keilaniemen Portti, the country's tallest timber building, is currently being constructed in Espoo, Finland. Ramboll will construct a 60-meter-tall skyscraper that will house offices, a conference center, a café, a sauna, and a rooftop terrace. The building was designed by Soini & Horto.
