Six people were transported to the hospital after a floor gave way at the Preserve at Chocorua event venue in Tamworth on Saturday afternoon, according to the New Hampshire Fire Marshal. The venue, described on its website as a 26-acre property with multiple buildings available for weddings and events, was hosting a ceremony at the time.
Officials confirmed that none of the injuries were life-threatening. The collapse occurred in the Sap House building just as the wedding ceremony was beginning, causing around 70 attendees to fall into the basement below.
Before emergency responders arrived, staff members and guests at the venue had already begun assisting those affected and providing first aid. Authorities, including State Fire Marshal Sean Toomey and Tamworth Fire/Rescue Chief Richard Colcord, have launched a joint investigation into the incident. Early findings suggest that the building may have exceeded its capacity before the collapse occurred.
