On Sunday, September 22, a two-storey building collapsed in Naples, southern Italy, resulting in the death of 3 people while one person was trapped under the rubble. Two of the victims were kids, a 6-year-old boy and his sister aged 4. At the site promptly arrived rescue teams from Saviano including personnel from the local fire department.
According to the authorities, the reason of the collapse is not known yet, however, they suggest that probably a gas explosion occurred and led the building to give way. It should be noted that the rescue team managed to save the father of the deceased children alongside their 2-year-old sibling, however they are hospitalized in poor condition.
As of present, the firefighters are searching for the trapped person beneath the debris while they are trying to stabilize the building, due to its unsafe condition, to ensure public safety that might be endangered by further collapse.
