On Friday, July 18, a three-storey residential building collapsed in Mumbai's Bandra suburb, resulting in at least 12 injuries, with many others feared to be trapped beneath the debris. According to a police spokesperson, the injured were immediately transferred to the nearby Bhabha Hospital for medical assistance. The incident occurred in Bharat Nagar, Bandra East, at around 5:56 AM local time.
According to officials, Mumbai’s Fire Brigade promptly arrived at the scene with the support of eight fire engines, along with Mumbai Police, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), and the Disaster Management Unit (DMU), which is part of the BMC. Rescue operations began immediately.
The cause of the collapse is not yet known; however, authorities suggest that a cylinder explosion may have triggered the partial collapse of the building. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
