Montgomery County: One fatality due to the collapse of a warehouse

Tragedy struck in Montgomery County on Friday the 29^th of March as one individual lost his life following the collapse of a warehouse structure. The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. at 1004 Levee Road, Kentucky. The victim, identified as 63-year-old Alex Slone from Bath County, was officially confirmed by the Montgomery County Coroner.

Montgomery County Fire Marshall reported that the collapse occurred while a crew of workers was working beneath the warehouse floors, operating within a restricted crawl space-like area. It is believed that the weight of heavy materials contributed to the flooring giving way and collapsing upon them. Initial assessments indicate that the drop was approximately between 6 to 8 feet. However, the exact cause of the collapse is not known, yet.

It should be mentioned that, according to Montgomery County Emergency Management, the incident occurred at an old tobacco warehouse situated on Levee Road, which had been repurposed into a storage facility. Montgomery County Judge-Executive Chris Haddix verified that Slone was the only casualty in the event. Fortunately, all other workers, who were involved, were found to be unharmed.
