On Sunday, June 15, at approximately 3:30 p.m. IST, a steel bridge collapsed over the Indrayani River at Kundamala near Talegaon in Pune district, Maharashtra, India. The incident resulted in 2 fatalities, and at least 32 others were injured. The cause of the collapse is currently unknown, and an investigation is underway. However, experts suggest that recent weather conditions may have contributed to the structural failure.
Reports indicate that the region experienced severe weather in the days leading up to the incident, including heavy rainfall that increased the river’s flow. At the time of the collapse, many tourists were on the bridge, and several fell into the river when it gave way.

According to Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, six of the injured are in critical condition and were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. He stated that rescue and recovery efforts were launched with the assistance of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other emergency agencies. The operation continued, as some victims were swept away by the river's strong current.
