The bride suffered head and eye injuries, of which a wound on her face required 10 stitches, whereas the bridegroom has two fractured ribs, an injured spleen and severe bruising. Serious injuries were also inflicted to other guests, including blows and wounds to their heads and spines, and broken bones. One of the guests had to have 19 stitches on her scalp!
“We were just about to meet with the hotel staff to go over our wedding plans in the lobby, when John pointed to the ceiling as it started to move,” the 35-year-old bride told the newspaper. “There was a loud bang and suddenly the roof collapsed right over us, leaving us trapped. The debris pinned us to the floor. It was so heavy that I couldn't move under it, and I was terrified because I couldn't get to my daughters who I could hear screaming from somewhere beneath the debris”, she added.
The wedding ceremony did actually take place the next day at a different venue, even though no one was really in the mood for celebrations.
