Construction of the Jeddah Tower—set to become the world’s tallest building at a planned height of 1,000 metres—has now reached level 91, standing at around 370 metres, according to Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Holding Company. Work on the project resumed in January 2025 after being paused for seven years.
Previously known as the Kingdom Tower, the Jeddah Tower is designed to surpass Dubai’s Burj Khalifa and is a key project within Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative. It will serve as the centerpiece of the $20 billion Jeddah Economic City development.
In its 2025 financial statement released on March 25, 2026, Kingdom Holding Company reported that construction is progressing steadily. Exterior façade cladding has begun, while mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) works are also underway.
The company noted that construction is advancing at an average pace of one floor every five days, supported by a workforce of around 5,200 people. Safety performance has been strong, with more than 8 million work hours completed without any lost-time incidents and no fatalities reported.
Earlier, in January 2026, when the tower surpassed 80 floors, CEO Talal Almaiman stated that the project is expected to be completed by 2028.
Located along the Red Sea on the northern side of Jeddah, the tower—also referred to as JEC Tower—features a Y-shaped design by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. This design helps reduce wind forces while maximizing space for luxury residences, hotel accommodations, and offices.
Once finished, the tower will rise to at least 157 floors and include residential, commercial, and office spaces, as well as a luxury hotel. It will also feature the world’s highest observation deck at 630 metres and be served by 59 elevators.
The project is being developed by Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), with Saudi Binladin Group acting as the main contractor. Engineering support is provided by Dar Al-Handasah, project management is handled by Turner Project Management, and the architectural design is led by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture.
