Tokyo and its surrounding regions in Japan were hit by an earthquake on Thursday, officials and media reported. The quake had a magnitude of 5.4 and its epicenter was located in Chiba prefecture, situated in the southeast of Tokyo, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Although there was no tsunami warning issued, the quake resulted in minor damage and caused at least four injuries to individuals, including a man who was struck by a falling ceiling light. Rail services were also disrupted due to the earthquake.

Japan is known to be highly prone to earthquakes, and the country suffered a massive earthquake and tsunami in 2011, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives and causing a nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima power plant.
