DAR AL HANDASAH CAIRO (Shair and Partners) have completed a move to their new LEED Gold-certified headquarters in Smart Village, Cairo. Designed by Perkins+Will, the 41,800-m2 building provides work and amenity space for 2000 staff members.
The new offices are both eye-catching and highly environmentally friendly. In addition to the LEED-Gold certification, there is an executive floor planned to zero-carbon standards. Other unique design elements include the triangular shape, which allows the building to beat Cairo's hot temperatures, and a six-story water wall which cools the space through evapotranspiration.
Dar Al Handasah Cairo has recently been making headlines in Egyptian and Middle Eastern media thanks to its impressive work. The firm won a bid for the Suez Canal project, which aims to develop an international industrial and logistics mega project in the Suez Canal area. In doing so, it beat off competition from a group of 14 companies.
