On Wednesday, February 12, a building collapsed in Arad, Bahrain, claiming two lives and severely injuring six others, who were transported to King Hamad Hospital for medical assistance. The collapse of the two-story building was caused by a gas cylinder explosion that occurred around 7:40 PM local time.
According to authorities, rescue teams promptly arrived at the site and began search and safety operations to locate survivors beneath the debris. More specifically, Civil Defense personnel, along with seven fire engines, were deployed to assist in the efforts.
Furthermore, an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the explosion, and the building’s owner has been called in for questioning. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion that shook the area. When they ran outside, they saw that the building had collapsed.
Authorities have confirmed that legal action will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future, reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding the community.
