PLAXIS 2-D Training Course Outline

• Fundamentals of finite element modelling (FEA) in geotechnical engineering, possibilities and limitations.
• Hands-on use of PLAXIS 2D interface and full workflow, covering all PLAXIS modes and staged construction set-up.
• Constitutive modelling essentials: Mohr–Coulomb model, drained vs undrained behaviour, and Soil Test Facility (STF) for understanding soil response and parameter influence.
• Mesh generation and initial stress conditions (K₀), 
• Modelling of structural elements: plates, embedded beams/piles, anchors, and geogrids.
• Practical tutorials on embankment stability (drained vs undrained, FoS interpretation) and excavation support systems (diaphragm wall, interfaces, prestressed anchors, pore pressure generation, dry excavation)
• Learn how to view, extract, and evaluate outputs: displacements, stresses, pore pressures, structural forces, and factors of safety (including Curve Manager review)
• Introduction to Leapfrog and its usage: how geological modelling can support and streamline the PLAXIS workflow
• Interactive exercises, short quizzes, and guided problem-solving sessions will be given throughout the course to reinforce learning outcomes.
