A boundary wall collapsed on Thursday 8th of February at 11:00 am local time at Gokulpuri Metro Station in northeast Delhi, killing a 53-year-old man and injuring four others. The victim was riding his scooter when he got trapped under the debris of the elevated station platform's collapsed wall.
According to a police officer, the metro station has been temporarily closed due to the inspection about the incident that is ongoing. Local authorities explained that four individuals sustained injuries due to the collapse, and they were extricated from the debris with the assistance of locals and fire department officials before being rushed to GTB Hospital.
According to the authorities, the section of the boundary wall was approximately 40-50 meters tall and it was located on the eastern side of the elevated platform. It is said that it fell onto the road below along with a portion of a slab.
