Tesla will construct a “Gigafactory”, which will be powered entirely by renewable energy sources and it will produce batteries with sufficient power for 500,000 electric cars. The latest information is that the characterization of “Gigafactory” will actually meet the scale of the new building.
The first plans included the construction of a building with an area of 929,000 square meters. The building will consist of prefabricated pieces. Nevertheless, the area of 1,000 acres might be not enough for the ambitious plan of the company. According to authorities, Tesla purchased 5,000 acres of land next to "Gigafactory" and examines to buy 1,400 acres.
The initial thought envisaged the construction of the plant in four prefabricated units, but the units will be seven finally with a total area of ??2.2 million sq. meters.
If and when this project will be implemented, the ”Gigafactory” will be the largest building in the world.
