Charges were filed Monday against the man responsible for the failed building demolition that lead to the death of six people in an adjacent building. The collapse occurred on June 5, 2013 in the Center City area of Philadelphia. In addition to the six murder charges, the contractor is also facing six manslaughter and six reckless endangerment charges. The collapse is still under investigation, but it is believed that Griffin Campbell, the lead contractor, is responsible for the collapse and related deaths.

VIDEO: View of Tornado Destruction in Illinois

A drone flew over Washington, Illinois surveying the damage done from several tornadoes that came through the area Sunday night. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has started to assess the damage of the area and many survivors are able to return to their properties to see if anything can be saved. The U.S. Travel Association held its inaugural conference in Washington D.C last week. The focus of the event, referred to as “Connecting America Through Travel, was to raise awareness to the fact that a lack of infrastructure spending in the United States is leading many tourists to visit other countries. Representatives of the association cite other countries’ high-speed rail and efficient airports as two main reasons why the United States is in danger of falling further behind. They warn that this has far reaching effects on the country that include not only being a less desirable travel destination, but also being less competitive in the global marketplace.

$500 Million for Typhoon Rebuilding

World Bank Group is providing the Filipino government with a $500 million emergency loan to help rebuild the devastated country. They will also provide a cash transfer to help clean up from the disaster and build temporary shelters. The World Bank Group has sent a technical team to the Philippines to assess the damage and determine the best path to rebuild. The team will first determine a reconstruction plan for the country, and then they will set it into place.

Two people are dead and up to 40 people were trapped on Tuesday afternoon when a section of a shopping mall under construction collapsed in South Africa. Construction workers were roughly half-way done with the three story mall when the second floor collapsed. Rescue workers arrived on scene to provide medical assistance to those who were injured and used sniffing dogs to find workers trapped in the rubble.
