The Geopier Impact® Rammed Aggregate Pier® (RAP) system was used in the C5 South Link Expressway Project, a public works project in Philippines. Approximately 400 Geopier Impact® elements of 5 meter length were installed to support the proposed MSE Wall.

The project aims to decongest traffic and provide a faster and more efficient regional movement of people and goods. The site was a former landfill and the characteristics of the subsurface soil include sand and clay deposits mixed with Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) materials. Approximately 400 Geopier Impact® elements of 5 meter length were installed to support the proposed MSE Wall. The Geopier elements provide high-bearing capacity as well as total and differential settlement control of the MSE Wall in the highly variable composition of the MSW material.

Impact® System

The Geopier Impact® system is designed to reinforce good to poor soils, including loose sand, soft silt and clay, mixed soil layers, uncontrolled fill, contaminated soils and soils below the groundwater table by using a patented displacement mandrel. The displacement process allows for installation with no spoils and eliminates the need for casing. Its performance and cost-effective qualities make it the ideal solution for soils that are subject to caving. The Geopier Impact system can be used for various soil and groundwater conditions, including deep treatment for liquefaction and expands RAP treatment depths to more than 40 feet.
