Photo gallery: a house in Lancaster PE is entirely made of straw!

Written by  TheStructuralEngineer.info

In Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the Pellman family live in a house that is entirely different from anything else! It is mainly constructed of straw and other local materials.

The structure housing Jesse Pellman, his wife Sarah and their two children was built out of 827 compacted bales of straw, or "Lego cubes insulation" as Jesse prefers to call them. Jesse, also used milled wood, trim and moldings, salvaged brick and local foundry for exterior posts, the back porch floor and porch posts supports as well as as stone from a demolished barn for the foundation.

View the photo gallery below for more views of the home!
