Program Features:
This program provides 15 individual tools that are commonly used by structural engineers. The tools include:
Steel Shape Properties:
This feature includes a database of most of the steel shapes included in the AISC "Steel Construction Manual", V14. Pick the desired shape and its properties will be displayed.
Section Property Calculator:
This feature will generate the physical properties for several types of common cross sections. Just enter the dimensions and get the properties such as area, section modulus and moment of inertia.
Natural Frequency Calculator:
This feature will provide the first mode of natural frequency for beams with various end conditions and loading.
Bolt Loads and Dimensions:
This feature provides you with the dimensions of high strength and non-high strength bolts as well as bolt shear and tension allowable loads for bearing and slip-critical connections. It even provides the estimated torque needed for the slip-critical connections.
Units Conversion:
Need a quick check on a unit? This feature covers most of the units conversions that you will ever need.
Wire and Sheet Metal Gauge:
This feature provides the thickness in inches for US steel wire, uncoated rolled sheet metal and galvanized sheet metal gauges.
Friction Coefficients:
This feature includes a large database of the approximate friction coefficients between a wide range of materials.
Thermal Expansion:
This feature provides the coefficient of thermal expansion for a wide range of materials. It will also calculate the length change due to thermal heat up of the material based on your input length.
Material Weights:
This feature contains a large database of general and building, approximate material weights.
Structural Steel Material:
Just select the AISC member shape type. The preferred and other applicable material specifications will be displayed, including the material yield strength and tensile strength. The program also displays the AISC recommendation notes for each material.
Wire Rope Properties:
This feature provides all necessary properties for a wide range of wire rope types. It will give you the ropes breaking strength and allowable load. The feature will also provide an estimated cable stretch, based on your input rope length.
Sling Properties:
This feature provides the allowable load for a wide range of sling types and configurations. This is a must for any rigging analysis.
Rigging Hardware:
Need to know the allowable load on a shackle or how many Crosby clamps you need to secure your wire rope? This feature provides allowable load data and dimensions for a wide range of rigging hardware. Everything from eye bolts to turnbuckles.
Ramp Loading:
Need to know how much force it takes to push or pull your load up a ramp? This feature will give you that information. It even accounts for the friction between the ramp and your load.
Angular Rigging Loads:
Just enter the position of two cables that are at different angles and your load. The program will give you the tension in each cable. Seems simple! You can use this feature or spend twenty minutes working out the free body diagram.
This feature is only available for software listings at the Advanced or Lead Sponsorship Level. Each software provider can upgrade the sponsorship level of their software listing by visiting the sponsorship levels page.
