On April 9, an agreement was signed between Knap and Eptisa, and Hrvatske ceste (Croatian Roads) Adria, launching a key infrastructure initiative aimed at improving connectivity in northern Croatia. The project, with an estimated cost of €90,000 (including VAT), involves upgrading the existing state road and constructing a new bridge over the Drava River. Completion is expected within one year.
Specifically, once the location permit is obtained and the preliminary conceptual design is developed, the plan is to upgrade the existing DC3 road into a four-lane highway, extending from Varaždin to a newly designed roundabout at Gornji Kušanec. The most significant component of the project is the construction of a new bridge over the Drava River, which will run parallel to the existing structure.
Before construction begins, comprehensive planning and analysis must be conducted. This includes exploring alternative routes, performing an environmental impact study, and preparing project documentation at the conceptual, main, and detailed levels. Precise geodetic measurements will also be carried out to ensure the design aligns with local terrain conditions.
It is worth noting that the project has already received environmental clearance from the Ministry, contingent upon the implementation of necessary protective measures.
