When: November 28, 2014
Speakers:
Giovanni Plizzari, Full Professor & Giuseppe Tiberti, PhD - DICATAM - Department of Civil, Environmental, Architectural Engineering and Mathematics, University of Brescia
This session illustrates the procedure adopted in DIANA for analysing the structural behaviour of members made of innovative materials such as Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC).After a brief overview of the on-going research activities, carried out at the University of Brescia under the supervision of Prof. Plizzari, the primary background concepts concerning FRC will be introduced.
The numerical non-linear analyses carried out with DIANA for evaluating the structural behavior of FRC members will then be described. In particular, special attention will be devoted to precast tunnel linings subjected to the severe loadings applied by Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) during the excavation process.
