A large part of existing railroad infrastructure across the country is aging out of service life. Some bridges and retaining walls have been in place for over a hundred years and though many upgrades and repairs have been performed, they are well beyond their intended service life.
This presentation will discuss options for in place remediation of these track way features that doesn’t require demolition of existing structures or extended out of service work efforts while saving on costs. Abutment and retaining wall reinforcement using limited access equipment for soil nail, tieback, micropile, mesh and shotcrete installation can add a new service life to these structures with a minimal invasive and footprint.
