Forensic engineering

Forensic engineering is a specialized branch of engineering that includes the investigation, the analysis, and the interpretation of engineering failures, accidents, and other incidents that cause damage. It combines principles of engineering, scientific analysis, and expert judgment to assess damage, and provide insights mainly for prevention measures. Through meticulous examination and rigorous analysis, forensic engineering aims to investigate complex events, offering crucial conclusions that are referred to safety improvement and design practices enhancement. In other words, forensic engineers utilize their expertise to examine a wide range of incidents, such as structural collapses, product malfunctions, fires and transportation accidents. Frequently, they fulfill the role of expert witnesses during legal proceedings, offering impartial viewpoints on the technical aspects of a case.
