Job Title: Structural Engineer (Senior)

Responsibilities: PasteTec has an immediate opening for a Senior Structural Engineer.  The successful candidate will undertake the following
duties:

  • Perform conceptual, feasibility and detailed structural engineering for plant design work for surface and underground structures (e.g., site
    structures, building structures, building foundations, equipment foundations, etc).
  • Perform steel and concrete design work complying with Canadian and international design codes using 3-D design and analysis software.
  • Design and size hoisting equipment, equipment platforms and personnel platforms.
  • Supervise CAD technicians for drawing preparation.
  • Supervise junior engineers assisting with design.
  • Prepare specifications for structural work.
  • Write and review proposals and projects.

Toronto, 290 kilometres east of Sault Ste. Marie, and 483 kilometres west of Ottawa, Greater Sudbury occupies a central location in Ontario at the
convergence of two major highways, Highway 69 South and Highway 17 (Trans-Canada Highway).   Surrounded by the raw beauty of the
Canadian Shield, the region boasts many natural amenities and several provincial parks are within a short drive.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A Bachelors or advanced degree in structural/civil engineering.
  • Licensed with Professional Engineers of Ontario or other provincial/territorial professional engineering association in Canada.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering for buildings and associated site works with a consulting engineering firm.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial and/or mining projects (Note:  Strong candidates who don’t fulfil this requirement
    may still be considered especially candidates with a background in waste water treatment and/or industrial building design experience).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient with 3-D structural analysis and design software such as RISA, ETABS, RAM, SAP2000, PCA MATS, S-Frame, S-Concrete and S-Steel.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer usage.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) in English.
  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to travel locally and internationally.
  • Valid drivers licence and passport.
