- AISC Web Enhanced Teaching (WET) (133 MB) is an Internet-based CD-ROM teaching aid
for undergraduate steel design developed at the University of Kansas with the support of the American Institute of Steel Construction. The teaching aid consists of a case study of the design of a three-story steel structure. The main goal of this teaching aid is to provide instructors with a tool to expose students to design of steel building elements in a realistic building context. Click here for the installation instructions. Available from American Institute of Steel Construction.
- The Steel Connections Toolkit includes a variety of interactive products to help teach
about steel connections, including a comprehensive teaching guide, 3D AutoCAD drawings of the teaching steel sculpture, and MathCAD routines for use in conjunction with the Guide. The "Teaching Guide on Steel Connections," which was developed by Perry Green of the University of Florida as an accompaniment to the steel teaching sculptures, provides a visual explanation of the basic design and detailing considerations of steel connections. Teaching Guide (3.4 MB pdf); AutoCad Drawing of Steel Sculpture (669 KB zip); MathCad (tm) Connection Modules (371 KB zip); MathCad Libraries (85 KB zip). Available from American Institute of Steel Construction.
- Steel Frames: The Design Studio Case Studies are presented so that the student may
learn by analyzing precedent buildings that employ structural steel in aesthetic and creative applications. The three buildings presented in this module have all won AISC - IDEAS Awards (Innovative Design And Excellence in Architecture with Steel). SteelFrames CR.zip (137 MB); SteelFrames TR.zip (72 MB); SteelFrames RG.zip (118 MB); SteelFrames LC.zip (75 MB). Available from American Institute of Steel Construction.
