• University of Bristol Earthquake Engineering teaching web pages. This site is designed
from the University of Bristol in order to give a broad, but a bit simplified, view of the
subject. It is interesting for one who wants to have a first knowledge on this domain. The
site contains photos, which are analyzed and I found this quite interesting. The lesson
starts with geology and earthquakes as a geological phenomenon, then their effects are
presented and how they interfere in the design of structures. Explanations on waves and
vibrations are also given and finally many photos with explanations are presented.

  • Seismic Isolation. Even though it is a commercial site, it contains useful educational
material on sesmic isolation of structures.

  • Powerpoint slide show on The Earthquake Damage (4.5MB). Available from Living in
    Earthquake Country, DLESE Teaching Boxes.
